Korean Handset Makers Increase Investment in India

LG has been said to invest another US$50 million to strengthen their handset, IT, and high-end home appliance operations in India. The additional investment includes the establishment of a new CDMA line at their Poona facility. Samsung will set up a handset plant in India with 10.3 billion won to take over part of the handset production in Gumi, Korea. The plant, named Samsung Telecommunications India, is expected to start mass production in 2006.
